are there ways of cleaning a turtles shell if it feels sorta slippery or alge like? My turtles have sorta slippery shells and I was wondering if that is good for them or what?

Can I clean the shells with just like a dry unused toothbrush or something?

I use a wet toothbrush. Which is of course only used on my turtle and never on anyone's teeth.

If I never cleaned by turtles shell/massaged it with a toothbrush I would of never found out she had shell rot

Like he said I guess its not necesary but if you are going to do it don't do it often, don't use chemicals and use a soft toothbrush (wet)

SIN-R I use a soft tooth brush and a warm table salt solution and let dry. I do it every couple of weeks when I dry dock them.

Clean soft toothbrush, the vet told me I can even use really mild hand soap with it but rinse the shell really well afterwards.

I've always just used the soft scrub brush that I clean parts of the inside of her tank with - gently, of course!

Sylvia looks so pretty after! And I think she knows it after I tell her so...
