So, today I had my Rio Grande Slider on my bed today, and he ate a pizza crumb. There was no water around, and he ate it without water.

Is this normal? Unsafe?

I am pretty sure sliders do not produce saliva so they would need water to eat..

Well, he did NOT have water. So, either that is false, or I have super turtle! haha

That does not mean it is False. The crumb could of been small enuouph where he could swallow it without water/saliva.

It was as large as his head.

So, they can eat without water?

Im sure they can but I would not recommend it. May cause the turtle to choke. Yes, Turtles can Choke pretty easy.

How do you know that he actually swallowed the crumb? I've seen turtles eat food on land and hold it in their mouths until they went back into the water. This is probably the case with yours.
