I have a stand for my tank and every time the turtles go to the bottom of the tank they see a reflection of them self on the bottom of the tank and try to attack it. does anyone elses RES do this? its so funny...

My little one does that on the bottom and also the sides of the tank. He also makes the fluttering sign with his front paws as if to dominate the "other" turtle. It's pretty funny to watch.

My turtle does this as well, at the sides.

Hector (my most frightened turtle) sees a reflection of himself and then runs under the heater to hide for cover...it is funny to watch sometimes, until it gets very repetitive and boring

Charlotte does this too, it's so funny - she'll try to attack her reflection!! Good thing there aren't any other turtles in there with her or there might be a problem...

Both my turtles do this. They swim at their reflection trying to get to the "other" turtle.

Well logan dosn't react much to his reflection but anything I put in front of his tank he goes nuts over it's pritty funny. He really seems to like things that are blue as he goes the crazy over anything blue. lol

My guy/gal seems to enjoy chasing their reflection as well. I've seen him snap at it before, but never do the fluttering, not sure why though if he's willing to bite at it.

Yeah I think it would be funny to see them flutter at there reflection.

Would they do this forever? Or would they eventually get bored with it and just be passive?

I guess it would depend on the personality of the turtle. If they get bored easily and need to entertain themselves, bumping into and biting their reflection might seem like fun.
