So.... I've kept Tomi, my 6" slider in a 75 gallon with various fish for many months now. He'd eat one now and then.... maybe once a month... that's it. There was a minnow in there with him that got huuuge. I noticed he was gone last Friday... Tomi had eaten him!
Anyway, my husband thought the tank would look nice with more fish, so I bought about 10 minnows and put them in the tank. I also bought 4 albino cory's b/c I really fell in love with my green cories, and Tomi never touched them. Anyway... once Tomi sees all these fish in his tank, he went NUTS!!! OMG! He was chasing after them like a true hunter... fun to watch, not so fun for my new fish. I managed to save 2 of the albino and the other cories I had in there. HOWEVER, he ate 10+ fish!!! Don't they get full??? There are a few fish left in there, but he's still chasing them... nonstop. I've never seen him like this. Honestly, this is how I expected him to behave the first time I gave him feeders but he showed no interest.
Anyway... moral of the story... your fish WILL GET EATEN! Crazy turtle. Now I have to figure out what to do with the cories... silly me. I have 2 other tanks but they're small... 5.5 gallons. 1 has a male betta... the other 2 mystery snails... and at the moment, 5 cory catfish. I'm tempted to get a bigger tank... just for fish... but my husband is not convinced. ::sigh:: Crazy turtle.
By the way... how long should I hold off on feeding him? He ate a ridiculous amount and I'm sure he's not stopping until all the fish are gone.
