General Care Discussion :: Bamboo??

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I found this post on craigslist where he had these little "Bamboo Houses for Aquarium's" and it says this in the post.

I have two bamboo houses. These were ordered from Thailand. Each contains ten pieces of bamboo tied together with mesh and fishing line. You use the mesh and fishing line to attach moss to the bamboo houses. The bamboo is said to help keep toxins out of your water, thus keeping good balances. These bamboo houses are great for shrimp and for fry. I have used these two houses for approximately a year. Our shrimp were always climbing on/thru the houses.

Does anyone know if its true that Bamboo helps keep toxins out of the water?

this is what it looks like

I actually read that you have to seal it to PREVENT it from leeching toxins into the water. Here is the article
