General Care Discussion :: poking it's nose out for air?

I think my turtles finally settling in a bit, it was nipping a bit at a stick finally and now it seems to be sleeping under a rock but I've noticed twice now that it pokes its nose out the water and looks like its breathing then it goes back under the rock. This seems normal, could it just be that it's getting some air?

Yeah they will stick the tips of there noses out of the water to get Air. If there scared they usually will try to hide that there even there so they try to poke out JUST enouph to get there nose up for a quick breath.

Ah ok, thanks. I just got it yesterday so yeah its still a little scared/shy.

Yeah it usually takes a while for them to get comfortable in there tank. just walk near the tank often and he/she will get used to you in no time. Just try not to hand feed even tho its cute, that later will cause your turtles to think every time you put your hand in there its food
