General Care Discussion :: someone please help me with my RES...not sure whats wrong...

I am currently "rehabbing" a baby RES until he is healthy enough to go into our turtle pond. (im a volunteer at nature park). In the state I live in it is illegal to own turtles and he was turned over to us. Anyways. I noticed that on both sides of his/her tail that hes got bulge like areas. i thought this was fat...until i touched it and it feels like theres something hard inside. Should i be worried?? hes just an itty bitty baby and fits in the palm of my hand. thanks!

P.S. usually we deal with adult turtles...so this is why I am not sure what to do about a baby.

If I had to guess, i'd say its a piece of aquarium gravel that the previous owner may have had in their tank, which the turtle ate, and it could be stuck..

But, im probably wrong.

Today i took him to a vet that we use...they said it was just fat...so i panicked for nothing thanks for the help
