General Care Discussion :: water depth

I did a search and did not find much. I have a hatchling and am wondering what the water depth should be in the rubber container. It has a basking spot in the center which is approx 6 inces high and have the water 5 and 1/2 inches high in the tank. Also can you guy a filter which is too powerful? I have attached to the setup a marineland filter which moves up to 350gallons per hour. I figured it was marked down and why by a lower filter when I know I am going to have to upgrade at some point. They say this is good up to 70 gallons.. But I know this is not the case with a res.

Well usually filters are marked and sold for fish

and turtles are much more messier then fish..so you would need a powerfull filter..

if it says good for 20 gall tanks..thats suitable for a 10..maybe 15 gal turtle

my opinion

i think your in good hands with your filter

generally for the water depth..i like to see the depth ATLEAST double the turtles height..

if he/she were to stand on his/her back legs

but the more water you can give is a luxury..

i would love to see your setup by the way
