Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hello!

I have just learned about this...I did not think it existed. I have a 17 year old female RES, who has already laid eggs in the past in the water of the tank. I did not know that they can become egg-bound if they were unable to lay their eggs.

I was wondering...in the tank I presently have, it is not possible for me to put and area where she can dig.

Do you have any suggestions??? or any ways to fix the tank??? it is an 80 gallon tank but I don't have any ideas on how to incorporate such an area???

What can I do instead?? Should I place her for a few moments in a pot filled with soil?? Or can I assume she will relay in water if she needs to??

Any tips??

Thank you

Your turtle should have a proper nesting site. Look here for some good info:

Try to make it so that she can get to the nesting site when she feels the need to. You could put it on something and attach it to a side of the tank with a ramp so she can get to it.
