Crabs will definitely be eaten, along with pretty much anything else you put in the tank. How big are your turtles? Do they even have enough room for more creatures?

Put some fish in there, or try some crabs/crawfish if you want, but don't be suprised when they dissapear into a cloud of white.

Turtles try to eat anything that won't eat them.

i purchased a crayfish with the intent to have him become part of my two hatchling's diets, but i'll be damned if they didnt carve out some sort of friendship. early on they may have taken a few nips at his tail, but now they pretty much ignore each other, and, in fact, the turtles dont seem to even give him much respect, they are always stepping on his head to get from place to place. i feel a little bad for the little guy, honestly.



he has a few places to hide when he's molting, but he pretty much has his run of the tank, eating morsels from all the nooks and crannies, with no fear of death from above.

I tried that many years ago while living in Louisiana. I put four in the tank and two were eaten right away. The last one lasted a month but was eaten in the end. Turtles will eat anything that has food value including their own poop.

Res. do not need company. We enjoy other peoples company but turtles don't. Mating time, yes, but that is not as smooth as some think. For the most part turtles tolerate each other and that is about it. If they don't tolerate it they eat it.

but the most people here have in the same tank res, map, painted etc.. :/

turtles dont always get along, sometmes they do. sometimes they dont.

res a known more for being aggressive

G-T-Greek -- Maybe true, but they are tolerating each other. They don't need the company. If you put a res in a tank, he as happy as a turtle can get. There is no competition, no shearing of space, etc.
