I have a 2-1/2 in. turtle that acted differently tonight. I came home late and all the lamps were off and found her on all fours on the basking dock.

she had her head extended all the way out and was looking at the ceiling.
her eyes were closed and she kept opening and closing her mouth. her neck would also expand and contract.
she also didn't run off the dock as usual when I came close.

she lives in a 75g. tank with a Rena xp3. I'm sure my water is fine and the temp. is at around 26 degrees celcius which I think is 85 F.
her eating habits are normAl. lots or veggies and a couple pellets everyday.

is this normal? thank u for ur time.

If I'm not mistaken, 26C is about 78F.

Gaping is more like yawning---is this what she was doing? The expanding and contracting of the neck is normal.

Also answer, anthing coming from her nose. Is she swimming okay?(no lopsided swimming)

i guess she could be yawning. if so shes doing it a lot repeatedly.

no nothing is coming from her nose. she swims normally too.. i guess its safe to safe she's RI-free?

When the miniscule differences in temps makes such a big difference overall, I don't think the quick and dirty solution is the best bet.

To convert Celcius to Farenheit, I use the Physics equation:

F=(9/5 x C) + 32

This is close to your method, CaseFam, but in these instances we need to be more exact.
