on occasion I will put live fish that I purchased as feeder fish right in with the turtles and see what happend. For the most part I get then alive and lay them on a paper towel freeze them for at least 12 houres then feed the forzen fish to thr turtles. Any parasite is killed and threy are safer to eat. I feed all my turtles by hand. ---- That id my way!!
Things come to those who wait, - Just remember, someone probably got there first!

mike hill you should not be feeding your turtles frozen fish, when you freeze your fish it makes them thiamin free, not a great thing, see the sticky. oh wait... whats a paper towel freeze??

hmm, i usually use hot water too kill a feeder guppy (I usually pick a male) when I get too many guppies reproducing. and they reproduce a lot, too since my tank is shrouded with java moss, anacharis, and java ferns. using hot water should kill all the parasites and bad stuff that the fish has, and should then be safe for turtle consumption!

yea, my turtle could never catch any fish. I have to do the work for him.

I dont know why you guys kill your fish in the first place, let your turtles have fun hunting them!! (unless he"ll only eat it dead)

what better way to make your res more agile, and not lazy than you being the caring mother and not feeding them anything but live fish??
