I got sent a link to this video. Personally i have never heard a res squeak/chirp before. I know what a turtle with RI sounds like and this isnt it.

So i was wondering for those that have res that have ever heard them chirp or squeak is this what it sounds like?

I certainly didnt think a turtle could make this sound lol

Do RES make vocalizations? Sid made a "croak" (I'm not sure how to describe it) at me today. It seemed voluntary and she was looking in my direction when she did it.

I've heard the croaking sound before, still not sure why they did it and have not done so again.

I suppose there is no way to know what happened to that turtle afterward. It looks like an R.I to me, based unfortunately on personal experience. My Male RES named Monet (that I used to have) that was a rescue was doing that one day. I didn't really think anything of it, he was acting normal otherwise - until two days later he was dead! It wasn't like "normal" R.I symptoms at all. Unfortunately it was a weekend and I didn't even get a chance to take him to the vet. (Sorry - tearing up while trying to type)

I don't know what that was, but the guy taking the video sure has some big ears!! (notice the shadow)

Yeah, I've never heard that sound before. It looks more like RI than normal vocalizing. Mikey croaks occasionally, I noticed that I hear him croak when he's biting himself.

Well she hasn't croaked again. She was just chillin' in her nesting box and started to croak at me after I sat with her for awhile. Maybe she was just exasperated from being in there so long and had to let it be known to me.

When I called my husband in to hear it she wouldn't do it for him, but as soon as he stepped out she did it to me again. :S

WOW good call Steve....Looks like a double ear abscess. The poor turtle is screaming from the pain it's in.

Yea, i had a pianted turtle years ago with RI bad. I know exactly what that wheezing/heavy breathing sounds like.

Yea I noticed the turtle had two ear abcesses and told him last week so he knows.
