I saw a "large pleco" at the local pet store and it looks to be about 5 in. long and i was wonderin if it would be ok to put it in my turtle tank? My RES is about 1 1/2-2 in. long.

Your turtle may or may not have any interest in it. I kept two plecos in with my Turtle and she is 12". But you also may come home to the remains of a pleco one day. Any fish is a potential snack.

Fact of life: turtles like to eat fish. It may take a little longer to eat, but It will be eaten by your turtle.

I have a pleco because I like the way it looks, but I have a smaller chinese algae eater for the purpose of eating algae. Based on what I've seen, pleco's will eat your tank junk, but then they will poop it out and you will have long, black, stringy poops in your aquarium. Just be fore-warned, they like to poop, and there are better creatures for the purpose of eating algae if that's what you want it for.
