I thought that my RES would drown in deep water too but when i raised my 4 inch RES water up to 12 inches he loved it gave him allot more swimming room and he just used the decor in his tank to stand up on to breathe.

they love to swim.... my turtle is 2inches and still manages the 20'x10' - 10g Tank- water to the top

Im just saying if they fall over in NO WATER they use there head to get up! But yah eather way this is a OLD POST i have a new set up in my singiature and geting a 40g soon!@
