My male RES suddenly swam bottom to the tank and swam back and forth for about 10 times. It didnt happen before. Whats wrong?

Also when the male RES make a contact with the female RES it moves its front claw. What does that mean?

I have never seen a turtle shake his front claws before. Is he showing any other unusual actions?

The shaking of the claws is the male trying to court the female.

It's called fluttering. As for as the swimming back and forth, can you tell us more about the tank? Did something spook him?
