is that kind of shedding can be considered as good shedding? I always heard that turtle shed thin layer of their scutes, however, kame always sheds big and thick scutes. She only need to shed 6 more scute and her new shell will be complete.

Moose was asking me is it alright to shed that thick scute? Kroten also shed thin scutes.

No, it's not exactly alright, it's a symptom of retained scutes (which I myself am dealing with). It really means that somewhere, there is an imbalance of your turtle's life, likely either dietary or UVB.

I mean, it's fine to shed that sized scutes, no harm will come to your turtle by any means, as long as they come off naturally without any human fingers! But in terms of this being the way turtles shed, I'd say it's really better to have them come off more frequently and thinner.

What kind of bulb are you using for UVB? When was your last bulb replacement? Or are you using sunlight? How much time do they get in unfiltered UVB? Any dietary issues?

The problem is dietary. before I found this forum, kame ate a lot of high protein food. And she has pyramiding...not too bad tho.

She never shed before (I knew turtle needs to shed after I join this forum). so she has been retaining her scutes till I fix her diet. 2 years after I feed her with the right diet, her thick scute came off.

I use sunlight, UVB bulb is too expensive in my country.

There's always sunlight passing through my window and both Kame and Kroten are placed near the window. Kroten shed thin scute because I own her after I join this forum.
