I have an aproximate 5 month old RES, even when i first got him, he has never put it head completly in his shell. When he is basking, he will pull up his fornt and hind legs. Is he fat? Or does he just not want to pull his head in?

Dunno. Can you get a picture? From a picture we can tell if he's too fat to pull his head in or not.

Basking positions can vary. If he were overweight, he would have difficulties retracting his limbs into his shell. There would also be some visible pudge around the limbs.

Yeah my RES only puts his head inside his shell when he's basking when he's sleeping.
What do you feed him?
