Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hi! I have had 2 red eared sliders for about a year. They seem to be healthy and active, no problems eating etc. However they have these light marks on their shell and I am not sure if it is shell rot. The picture attached is of my girl (both of their shells look the same). (Ignore the fact that she is in shallow water- I was cleaning out her tank when I took this picture.) Can anyone tell me what is up with her shell- and what I can do for it??

Are their shells soft? Do they have an odor?

I don't know if this will account for the shape of her shell but for the first couple of months of her life- she belonged to my cousins- and her and her "brother" were both in together in the little plastic tank that you buy them in- they had hardly enough room to move.

for the first few months..they were in less than an inch of water; they could barely move let alone swim. But ever since I had them they have always been in water filled as close to the top as I could get it and they swim just fine.

From the pics, it looks like she might shed soon. Is it the golden color you want us to look at?
