Today I was messing with my filter and decided to have the output tube to shoot out water above the water surface to add a nice waterfall effect and agitate the waters surface. And my RES did not mind it during the day it was on the side of his dock ramp where it was shooting out of and he let the water hit is shell for a few seconds before getting up to bask. But when night came he seemed not to like it and did not go to sleep. He always goes to sleep a few minutes after his light turns off and today he was still awake after a hour and a half. Is the water disturbing his sleep? Does he not like it? Also he slept at the bottom of the tank which is not normal cause he always slept in the corner of the tank stepping on the filter input tube with his head sticking out of the water. Should I put it back to normal? Or will he just get used to it?

he could just not be used to it. what i used to do is at night push the outtake under water to stop the noise and that seemed to work

he just needs time to get used to his new surroundings. Like you said, he's used to being able to sleep right at the surface, but now he has to sleep at the bottom of the tank. You can add a shelf or taller decoration to give him another resting area, but you don't need to rearrange your tank everyday to get him to sleep.
