When I got my turtle, (who I named Anita) she didn't eat anything for 6 days much to my worry,but apparently she was just getting adjusted because after those 6 days she ate her pellets,minnows,and greens just like that bam! bam! bam! Well my next concern was that she wasn't basking. I even thought her basking spot might have been too small so I went and got her a bigger one. Well 12 days after I got her (as I am typing now) I just watched Anita crawl right up there and wiggle around a bit like she was getting comfy,stick her arms and legs out and close her eyes like "ok this is good enough, and I guess he isn't going to eat me." It is adorable to see her with her legs out like that.... I am so thrilled!!!

Yay! That's always good news.

I loved the same moments when I got mine. He was previously a picky eater, but he is voracious now! He loves to bask now too, but it took him over a week to get up there.

Bowser was the same way!
It only took a day to get him to eat (because we fed him chicken) but over a week to bask.
He still gets scared if you make sudden moves while he's basking, but is getting better.
The photo in my avatar is him on top of his cuttlebone "surfboard" taking a nap.

My two RES will just float in the water with their legs sprawled out. My male RES loves to "hang on" to the filter discharge and just chill out. My female is currently begging for food by voraciously swimming and splashing. But, she's going to have to wait until dinner time.

Joe-85 Most turtles will not eat for a while after a change of environment. I have had them not eat for 10 days. I am glad to see the change. Good Luck!

My two are very different. Speedy ate right away, before she was even in her proper tank. Shiloh took a few days and is still the slowest to get food.

Today was the first time for me to see Yoshi basking! He/she is still a bit cautious because when I move closer to my computer next to the tank Yoshi watches me then slides back in. However Yoshi did climb back on the dock after a while of me sitting at my computer. For adjusting so quickly in just 4 days I am happy to know that Yoshi is getting comfy with his new home. :mrgreen:

Yes that what I thought but had gotten worried because the people at the petco said it wasn't normal and that I should exchange it for another one. I didn't want another one. But I've also relized the people at my petco act like they have turtle poop for brains....
