General Care Discussion :: Turtle Shell Question

Hey Guys,

I have two RES for about 2 and a half years now and recently there shells started to look like this http://picasaweb.google.ca/106026078155899929071/MyRedEarSliders#. I think it's because their scales aren't shedding properly but I would like a second opinion. The areas don't smell or are soft so I don't think it's an infection. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yea your turtles are not shedding then. Do you have a type of uvb bulb for yuor turtles?

I replaced my bulb half a year ago from a local pet store, and I think the bulb wasn't proper. So I went today and picked up a new 5.0 UV bulb for them. Will that be OK?

What brand? A 5.0 should be OK. Can you take them outside several times a week for some unfiltered sunlight?
