General Care Discussion :: Turtle insanity... what the heck??

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So I recently invested in a better UVB light for my turtle, the one he had before was very weak.

He has been acting super crazy since then, it just seems like he has a ridiculous amount of energy! Splashing around like he's lost his marbles, started hunting his fish A LOT more, always begging, tears through his lettuce like he is trying to kill it... he's freakin' out!

Also along with his normal basking he has been underwater basking... or napping maybe with his feet sticking out funny like he does while basking. Do other peoples turtles do this?

Do you think the light is giving him more energy? Or maybe just putting him in a better mood? Definitely not complaining, just curious if he is really being affected THAT much by the light or if something else is going on. I guess he has actually had multiple improvements since I found this forum, more room, much better filter ATBA etc. I guess money does buy happiness... for turtles at least! LOL

Could be he's finally absorbing the vitamins he needs and feeling good about it. Who knows?
As long as all is good, that's all that matters.

What kind of light did you have before and what did you upgrade it to?
