Then I wonder what he's getting spooked at! He does it every morning around 7AM... seems like he's having nightmares over his past home! ahahaha. Glad to hear it's not something serious though.

So should the Rena XP3 be good for a 75gal tank, or should I get another filter (XP2, 3, another one all together)? It's just a little over 2 times the size... but I heard the best is three times the size of your tank?

I just read you should rate by GPH over how big the aquarium is.

Certain objects and movements can scare them, sometimes more so when they're basking. Neither of my RES like it when I take temp readings with a temp gun and they shell up for a few seconds.

i just wanted to give my new turtle a good home too. i just got it and havent even got a tank yet. i fell you. i orginally got two but i think one got a bone disease and it died i was so sad and prayed that the other one would live a good life because i like them. i found that my turtle (sally) "jumped" off the table it was on and walked to the kitchen. anyway thats my story of the turtle. :mrgreen:

My turtle used to do that to me when his tank was in my room. It was really annoying. He would splash around until I got up then he would stop. It got to the point where when I would hear him splash, I would just raise my hand into the air so he could see me and he would stop. It was really irritating.

Your XP3 should be good for the 75 gallon. If not, you can just keep using your current filter in addition to the XP3.

Awww... but that's sorta cute!! He just wants to know you're there because he loves you!

My turtles tank is in my room too, but it will be going to the living room once we move. I feel sorry for him after I feed him, because he keeps up his begging for a long time after I walk away from the tank because he sees me in the room.

Current filter is pretty shitty, but I will try it out if XP3 isn't good enough.

Petco is having a 1$ per gallon tank sale up to 100 gallons
It's not the filter or any setup just the glass. But it's a start in the right direction. Also hunt craigslist. I found both my tanks online.
55 gallon fully set up with 3 fish - 85$
30 L set up - 30$
