General Care Discussion :: do turtles need a cool breeze

Hi there,
I was just wondering if turtles needed a cool breeze like they would get in the wild when basking?

I ask this just out of general curiosity because i realized that it gets quite hot and stuffy in my room during the summer and it's quite unbearable. I would turn on the air conditioning but that would make it too cold for basking. So do turtles enjoy/need cool breezes?

(unlike my previous apartments, i can't open the window as i live on the ground floor and it would just be an invitation for many insects)

no, they dont need it. a constant draft can and will actually cause your turtle to become ill. a breeze froma window like u had before is fine but a constant draft is bad

In the wild, turtle adapt to changes in the weather and can be quite hardy. If your RES has been living in a "climate controlled" environment, however, a cool breeze blowing directly on him can do more harm than good.

Some of my turtles are in a room that can get quite warm. I position a fan over the tanks to help circulate the warm air (and keep them cooler) without exposing them to any direct or cool breezes.
