General Care Discussion :: No eggs this summer

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Last summer was the first summer my red eared slider laid eggs. She is now 12. This summer, Myrtle shows no interest in egg laying. I've taken her outside a few times and she just finds a place to burrow and then takes a nap. She's calm, not restless in the water, and is eating well. Should I be concerned? Do they lay eggs every summer?

If she is alone (or if you only have females), she will be less inclined to lay eggs, even on a regular basis.

So no worries? Or is she holding them in? I just don't want her egg-bound.
