yeah, it has been eating ReptoMin floating food. Havent really mixed it up yet. I did try some graded carrot but it didnt go for that.

Try feeding him different kinds of pellet foods, and try different vegetables.

Thanks. yeah its just a baby. It seems to like the rock quite a bit.

well if you decide to keep it you have to know it will become a handfull once it grows and it need's you to make a siutable enviroment for a good life. i don't want to descurage you cuz they can be grate pets but envolve a lot of work. good luck

Well got my UVB bulb in! I woke up and noticed my wife had got it in the mail and already put it on my tank for the turtle. I work grave yards so when I got up I decided to check the setup out. I saw the turtle on the rock moving around more than normal and wondered if the uvb made my turtle more active. I read it did but didnt think it would work that fast. As I watched this turtle, something caught my eye. Another turtle was peeking at me from under the water. What? 2 turtles? Was I seeing things? The one in the water looked more like my turtle. The active one was a stranger but a twin to mine. I yelled at my wife and asked her if I was seeing things. She grined and told me that she got the other one from her brother. Her brother is the one who originaly found them in the first place. She said after I told her about all the care they needed when I got mine, she told me she was at her brothers house and saw the turtle in a dark bathroom in the sink with a small rock in it. She felt sorry for it because it wasnt getting light, heat, or uvb and decided to bring it and put it in with mine. Now I have 2 turtles and pretty sure they are siblings since they were found at the same time. Not sure what I am going to do now. I dont have the space for 2 turtles. Not with my current set up anyway. I may try to find it a home. I was content with my one turtle lol.

Wow! 2 baby turts? Thats a handfull. I have just one and hes causeing me some problems. But yeah 2 baby turts in a 10 gallon tank might be ok (Since no one elso has expressed this as i can see) vut its a good rule of thumb to keep them in an aquarium thats 10 gallons per inch of shell legnth. I assume there no larger than 1 inch each so an ideal tank would be 20 gallon. Heh but what do i know im new to this to

The new one seems to have a peeling neck? Could this be due to its prior environment it was saved from?

Make sure they have a place to completely get out of the water and dry off. If they don't there will be shell problems.

His peeling is normal from what I understand, but if the water is too hot he will shed too often. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!!!

He has a place to get out. I don't think its his shell. Looks like under his neck? He is kind of a retard compared to my original turtle. Seems to like swimming in a corner non stop...lol

The newest turtle seems to be eating and basking now like the other one. They seem to get along ok. Going to start building basking area on my bigger fish tank and add them to it while I find a 100gal tank. Also the big fish tank I have has a saltwater type filter set up and puts a slight current in the tank when its on. Will this effect the turtles or do they require vacume/waterfall type filter??

No, they don't require a waterfall (H.O.T.) filter. A canister filter is probably best. I'm not sure what you mean by a salt water type filter. Turtles are much messier than fish, so if the filter is for a for a 100-gallon tank with fish, you may find at some point, as your turtles grow, you may need to upgrade or supplement the filter you have.

Well not sure what its called but the tank I am talking about has the filter system built into the tank. Water flows back behind the main tank area and you put your filter/media back there in the reservoir. It sucks in on one side and shoots out flex tubes on the other side. This puts a slight current in the tank so thats why I was asking about it for turtles.

You're referring to a sump & overflow. As long there is nothing for the turtle to get stuck or sucked in, it should be fine.
