General Care Discussion :: Should I help my hatchlings shed?

Both my little turtles are in the process of shedding. How fast does shedding normally go? How do I tell if they are not shedding properly and they need help?

No need to help them shed skin or scutes

No!, on the helping shed! If they come off too early you may expose some of the carapace before it is ready and can cause an infection. Use proper lighting, basking and add some calcium in diet. - Good Luck!

Yes, you can try small pieces... though a good pellet (like Reptomin Baby) should have some too.

oh ok cool. i feed them reptomin baby. so i just continue feeding them that or should i give them extra calcium too?

Couldn't hurt to add a little bit of variety.

Do nothing manual. But do provide a good environment that will encourage them to bask.
