My wife and I have had two female RES that we obtained from different places. They are about the same size, one of them must be older though because she has a bigger head and bigger hands. We thought they would get along so we bought a 125 gallon aquarium and build an ATBA and a sump for it. Last night I put them in together and they seemed alright, they took a couple of bites at each other but it seemed more out of curiosity than anything. I put them to bed last night and then checked on them this morning about the time their light turned on, and the smaller one Sid was chasing the slightly bigger one Korma around. I've separated them again but is there any way I can reintroduce them to each other?
We've kept them in separate tanks right next to each other for about 4 months before this so they would hopefully get used to seeing each other. I haven't fed them in the big tank so there is no feeding aggression and we planned on feeding them in one of the old tanks anyway. Does anyone have any suggestions besides splitting the tank? Should I just keep putting Korma in with Sid and monitor their activity? Could it be that they were just scared from being in a new place? Any answers would be much appreciated.
