I have a RES (about three years now) who developed some pyramiding of his shell. This looks like scutes overlaying scutes. Gradually, his shell seems to be peeling down layer wise; the overlying scutes seem to be coming off or shedding , but there are several layers. I believe that this process is now stopped thankfully, but I am wanting to know what the implications are for his health and growth etc of his having this . He is about 6 inches long. He is active , eating, and seems healthy. His activity seems to have decreased since I added two very active yellow bellied sliders to the mix of him and two maps. One of the yellow bellies is more aggressive. The RES used to be the alpha guy.
I've attached two pictures of him (hopefully).
How do you all think he looks? Re his shell?
Thanks.
