Ive just noticed this recently and didnt know if the RES was suppose to be like that, but I got a few different hatchlings and they look like that?? The shell is curved like a cowboy hat in a way. It could be because I was over feeding and just made it a little worst?? I feed them three times a day mixed with zoo med hatchling pellets and freeze dried krill....i know for a fact they get enough light source... im doing what ive been doing for about 3 yrs, nothings changed except i think i over fed these guys...lol... ive attached some photos of what im talking about. Thanks

Ya looks like from overfeeding to me, just cut back his food and as he grows it should work itself out. Such a little cutie turtle there too :D

thanks jaysea

that means they will have to go on a diet and starve a bit :x

i mean the shell looks healthy and its hard like its suppose to be... it just curls!!! i have a big res about 6.5 inches, and he has that weird shape to him too... i dont know if hes fat or what lol..ill see if i can get a photo of him on here too.... so now i guess i will have to split my bigger caramels up from the smaller ones that NEED to eat lol... there are a few dominant ones i there that eat all the food. i have like 7 of them right now :P

In addition to cutting back on the food, make sure there's enough calcium in the diet.
