Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hi,
I'm a little disgruntled. I've been having a lot of problems with the blue heat lamp bulbs. Since August, I've gone through 4 bulbs. The bulb that came with my tank set up blew in a few hours so I returned it and the store replaced it, and that one also blew within a few hours. I went back and the store gave me a different brand (I can't recall which one), and that was fine until the beginning of October and then I bought a new one. This morning I went to turn on my lamps and that one was blown! I'm extremely frustrated seeing as these cost $30 a pop!

Would I be able to use a regular light bulb for the heat lamp? I have a UVB lamp in addition to the heat lamp.

Thank you

No need to buy the fancy reptile heat bulbs for a RES. A regular household incandescent will do the job.

yeah. for the heat aspect pretty much any homesupply store light bulbs can work. all the heat is doing in attracting the turtle to bask and it also helps it warm up a bit. UV bulbs are the bait, UVB is what actually matters for the turtle
