General Care Discussion :: Is this shell curling? and can i use this silicone?

This is my second turtle hes about 2 weeks old only (ps this is my quarantine tank)

This is the silicone that my neighbour gave me cos they didn't need it anymore, i'll be using it for my atba

Thanks for the compliment But don't you think the back of his shell is kind of bending upwards?

the shell bending upwards happens through pyramiding. hatchlings go through that but after a couple of scutes being shed, they should be okay and that will go away

So it should bend down again as he sheds?
Is it caused by not having a uvb lamp? As you might have read in my previous post, i currently have no uv lamp, except for a normal heat bulb

its usually caused by over feeding and it occurs alot in hatchlings. do you feed your turtles alot of pellets?

I used to feed them 3 times daily, which i later found out was wrong, now i feed then 3 wardley reptile sticks each, is that too much? the wardley stick are pretty long, about 1 inch in length

He does look a little "round" and his seams are getting darker, so I would think he was fed too much earlier. Have you read the feeding section about pellets?

I'm not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me, but my little turtles shell seems to change about.Yesterday it was bend up, then today it went back to normal???
@steve, what is a seam?
Btw guys, do your turtles freak out when u turn off their basking light? Mine kinda twitches their head when the lights are turned off

The seam is the line in between the scutes.

Don't use any silicone that says it has anti-mildew properties.
