I was in San Francisco for a few days and I got a frantic phone call last night from my brothers saying "we can't find fred!" My brothers stayed at my uncles for a night because my parents were also away, so I figure that fred will be okay for one night alone as I have everything on timers etc. I immediately start to panic inside, I tell them to look in the cave I just built, corners of the basking area, under the bed, everywhere! I was especially panicked as I couldn't remember if my doors were closed and neither could my brothers. The reason this is such a big deal is that we recently caught a be a behometh of a rat that chewed through pvc plumbing and flooded our kitchen thus, fearing fred was betrayed by master splinter and eaten! After 15 minutes or so, my brother looks under a pile of clothes about 15 feet from my tank and low and behold there is Fred! I am not sure how long Fred was there on the hardwood floor. I also do not know how he survived the fall! It is about 4 feet from the top of the tank to the floor! Are turtles this hardy? He is eating, basking, and isn't swimming lopsidedly or anything but when i took him out and held him he seemed to be wheezing for the first 3 seconds he was out of water. I raised his water temperature just in case. I am a bit worried but he seems to doing alright. I cant explain the feelings i had when i got that phone call! horrible!
