General Care Discussion :: The color of my red ear slider's ears are fading.

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have three baby red ear sliders that I got for Christmas, and the red on their ears has started to fade on one of the turtles. It used to be kind of a dark orange, but it's been fading to a yellowish white color. I don't see any fungus or infections or anything. Is my turtle healthy?

Usually as res get older their color starts to fade all over so it sounds like that is what might be happening but a pic might help.

Do you have a UV light??
If no, the discolouration can be caused by lack of UV. Also how old are they??
Their diet should gradually be changed as they age to more greens and roughage rather than protein (meat) some turtle pellets are very high in protein and nothing else, I find the Zoo Med brand very good, clean and cheap on ebay :)
