General Care Discussion :: Growing problem?

I have one male and one female RES. I bought them at the same time, and they were about the same size.
I have noticed that the female is almost doubled in size while the male has only grown slightly.
I have been watching their behavior and I make sure that the male eats just as much as the female does. I also see him basking.
What could be the problem?
Pretty soon the female will be twice the size of the male.

The problem is she is female lol. Females will get almost double the size of males. So everything is perfect with your turtles.

My step mom is a vet and said that my male turtle has fungus...but it was just shedding. She told me that him being smaller is a bad sign. She doesn't seem to know a lot about turtles it seems.
I was just making sure it was okay.

A veterinarian not trained in the reptile area really wont know specific care about turtles.

I still don't understand why they pretend to know and give out false info most of the time.

Not false - just misinformed.

Reptiles do not respond in any way similar to mammals or birds.

They were here first, why change just because new animal groups came around and became more favorable as pets with the masses
