I hope I am in the right place to ask this question.
I see all kinds of turtles in the road all the time, especially now that the weather is getting warmer, I always stop and pick them up off the road when I see one so they won't get ran over. My question is tonight on my way home there was a RES (Red Ear Slider) or I think it is, in the road and I picked him/her up and I wanted to put it somewhere where it can be safe and so it could go about its business. I don't know very much about the natural habitat of an RES but I'm curious if someone could tell me where a safe and turtle friendly place I could return this cute creature? At the moment it is night and storming and I have him/her in a plastic Tupperware container and plan on returning it in the morning. I read a few articles online about RES' but nowhere did it say where I could release one at, just not to release captive ones but this one is wild so I hope by asking you nice folks for a place. I do have a pretty calm creek next to my house if that would be a good spot.
Thanks for yall's help.
