Was algae at those spots before or are those areas where the pleco cleaned the shell?

Yeah her whole shell was full of algae I tried cleaning it the best I could but it wouldnt come off and she wouldnt let me.Then the pleco cleaned it all off. This might be a dumb question but can turtles get like a sunburn?

I have the Light about 5 or 6 inches away from the dock.

I've heard a few people mention their RES becoming darker from being in the sun, but basking temperatures should always be carefully monitored.
