General Care Discussion :: Krush won't get out of the water!!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I tried leaving food and even putting him up there at first but he'd scramble to get back in the water or crawl up the walls of the basking area. He goes up there for longer periods of time now too. My friends see Krush and are amazed at how cute he is and they all love watching him.
The other day I found a beautiful turtle about Krush's size trying to make it across our road. I picked the little guy up and on her/his other side, (s)he was a beautiful mostly red pattern of shapes.....someone told me it was a painted turtle but I don't know. I was tempted to bring it home to live with Krush but I wonder if that would even be worth a try. I think this was a female though because it's 'arms' and 'legs' (is that what turtle appendages are called??) were thinner and so was her tail although he shell was the same size as Krush's. I definitely do not want baby turtles right now!!! And I feel uneasy about removing a wild turtle from its' environment.

Sounds like a painted... they have amazing color and are smaller than RES too. You are right not to take her... I say her because it's usually females venturing for nesting spots that stray from their home.
