Hey! Well, I just read something that made it sound like she should be sleeping on the dock. Is that true? She only basks like every other day. Thanks a lot!

Should be basking everyday. Maybe she just needs to get comfortable. Most res sleep in the water but some sleep on their dock.

I found with mine that she basks more if I keep the water temp a little lower (73-74) . That way she climbs up and basks to get warm and regulate her body temp.Make sure her basking area is at least 10 degrees warmer than her water.

I was also wondering about the water temp. The heater is completely off, but the water is 81! What should i do?

My RES sometimes sleeps on his dock, or hangs off his ramp and usually slips off of it and sleeps underwater.

Clover , whats the temp of the basking area? Mine take turns sleeping in the water and on the basking area.. they just follow each other around haha. Can you post a pic of your setup? The heat lamp could be heating your water..how big is the tank?

I don't know how warm the basking area is, but it is a flukers heat lamp with a zoo med floating dock and the tank is 30 gallons.

You can get a little thermometer for about $2 at walmart. I would do that and make sure the basking area is warm enough (or too warm). You can move the light closer or farther to adjust the temp
