General Care Discussion :: Whats This Face Shaking???

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Jeffseele..you REALLY shouldn't breed them. There are way too many RES without homes as it is and each RES needs one gallon of water per inch of shell. If you have thousands of dollars to buy a bunch of tanks ..then maybe. You can't have multiple turtles (its risky to have two) in one tank unless its a huge pond. The more turtles you have, the more changes are aggression issues. They could live fine together for 10 years and then all of the sudden there will be a fight. Its ok for them to eat the eggs (and they arent usually fertile anyway). Its better to have a nesting area for them to lay the eggs in though. Unfortunately, most turtles refuse to lay their eggs in a nesting box. Theres a lot of info on this main site. Take a look at this link http://www.redearslider.com/reproduction.html

Perfectly said sflemin2. Please don't breed sliders. Rescues are full of them and many of them won't even take them in anymore.

@sflemin2 + Love of Animals - that was a spammer. An elaborate spammer. I missed it since it seemed like a convincing reply. :(

Someone by the name "Jeffseele", who sflemin2 and Love of Animals replied to above.

Aggression is always something to keep an eye on with multiple turtles. Aggression directed towards people... some RES are just like that.

The spammer was asking about adding a turtle to their current setup. That is easily the most elaborate spam post I've seen.
