Hey.
My husband and I just adopted a couple of turtles from some guy in Mumbai, India. We were told by the pet vendor that these are Malaysian turtles "very sturdy, feed only once a day, verrrry goood kachwas". Feeling sorry for the state that these littles ones were kept in, I insisted on bringing them home. But now that I am caring for them, I'm not entirely sure if I'm doing it right.
Mario and Yoshi (my new turtles) are tiny, about 2 - 3 inches long and an inch and a half wide. Their shells have a 2 red humps (for lack of a better word) in the center and they have red a red line going around the edges of their shells. They also have a red line on their necks and red dot ears. After much research, I've found that they may either be RES or painted turtles. Please help me figure out what they are so I can care for them better.
At present I have them in a little plastic tub with river rocks and a few inches of water. We have also placed a large rock in the center of the tub to allow them to bask. Initially they were super active but now they just lie around and for the past 2 days they have refused to eat. They have also started to shed. Since its the monsoons here, they haven't been able to get enough sunlight. What do I do?
