Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

What is the most humane way to give away your turtles? I contacted the local petstore and they will only take turtles bigger than 4 inches.. which takes care of only 1 out of 4. Do I have to wait for the other 3 to grow to over 4 inches? Or is there some other way to give away the other 3?

Well, Toby is now gone. His new home is at the LFS. It is a real shame that the person who gave the turtle to my girlfriend had no idea how to take care of it when he gave it to her. He had no idea he would get that big, and I find that rather irresponsible of him.

Turtle rescues, NOT HUMAN SOCIETY!!! they will most likely euthanize them!! They see the turtles as a nuisance, and do away with them. You never see them on those animal cops shows either, no reptiles at all. I believe they put down pond turtles cause there's nowhere to put them.

There's alot of rescues all over the place, including your area...

Look into the NY Turtle and Tortoise Society, for starters.
