Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I probably wont do this for a while but i was thinking about getting another turtle to keep Kaya company. Kaya is pretty big, im not sure how old she is but shes about about 8-9 inches. She has lived alone for her entire life, so im worried that if i get another turtle, especially a smaller one, that she would be aggressive towards it or even kill it. People say that theyre solitary but i never see them alone in the wild, so im wondering if she might appreciate some company when i get a bigger tank.
When i get a bigger tank (hopefully very soon, been checking craigslist and the paper everyday) if i do decide to add another turtle would it be okay to add a smaller turtle, or should i keep them seperate until they are more similar in size? Also would it be safe to add a different kind of turtle (like a diamond back) or would she have better chances of making friends with another RES?

Keeping multiple turtles means you have to have the capacity to separate them from day 1. You can try to keep another female RES, which I think has a better chance of cohabitation.
