My brother told me that Brixies heat bulb exploded today. She cleaned up all the glass and took care of the mess, but why might a heat bulb explode? The other bulb that came with this one burned out in less than 24 hours.

Usually it's water coming in contact with the bulb but it could be the wiring, a surge, a defect, etc.

What kind/brand bulb was it?

Is the lamp you are using rated to handle the wattage of the bulb?

I've had this problem before too, I found that my zoomed bulb was too close to the water, and when my RES would dive in, it'd splash the bulb which would then instantly burst. It was really scary... freaked out about the possiblitiy of her eating the glass. I'd just move the lamp further away and see if that doesn't fix your problem.

Yeah but I remember one morning the heat lamp lost it's grip and fell into the water, and I didn't noticed for around ten minutes and it was completely fine for the next, oh, 5 weeks.

Regardless, I got lots of backup bulbs now, so no need to worry!

Brixie was, but my brother was feet away, and the piercing sound was pretty obvious, and he took her out and put her in a bucket until I got home. He is REALLLLY smart sometimes, I'm glad I have him as a brother.
