Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I barley see my turtle, Moon bask. He's always in the water ! But sometimes when I get up in the middle of the night. I see him basking. My basking area is good enough for him to climb up. What can I do to let my turtle bask? I don't want his shell to turn yellow ! :?

Your turtle will most likely bask when you are not around. My turtle will not bask when I'm active in the house. Just make sure your water temperature is correct, and your basking area temperature is 10° above that.

to solve my turtles not basking, lowered the temperature of the water. i found that when my turts were in 70deg water and their baskin area was at 80, they would barely bother to get out of the water.

after i moved house, ive now done away with the heater completely aa theres a radiator really close to the tank and the water stays quite warm in general.

my turts all spend a lot of time out of the water now they have a proper basking area.

Noticed for that last two days my turtles havent been basking. And I always catch them every time i would go into the garage they would be basking but in the last 2 days ive noticed they dont. The water is about 78. As far as the basking area the temp wont get higher then 86 since the weather has changed , before it was always at 95.

Those are pretty high. What type of bulbs are they? How close are they to the basking area?

I lied Peanut and jellys are a 50W and Butters is a 100W but they are basking now I think that when we had that rain it dropped the temp in the garage and made their basking area not get to the right temp.

ya they were not basking when we had some rain and it dropped the temp in the garage and the basking area was only at like 80 and the water was like 75 but now the water temp is 80 and basking is 90 and they are all basking again.
