General Care Discussion :: new owner

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

i recently bought a red eared slider not knowing anything about it. the store owner did not tell me much and said it would be easy to keep. as soon as i got home i researched it and found out that keeping a turtle required a lot of responsibility. i currently have a 10 gallon tank, dock, heater, 75 watt lamp, etc. i'm already thinking about buying a bigger tank but i'm becoming extremely doubtful that i can be a good owner, so i was wondering if there are anything important that i should watch out for.
also, recently we changed the water in the tank and my RES became even more afraid than usual (it had almost gotten used to us too!)
will the RES get used to it after a couple changes?

Awh! Don't worry you'll be an expert before you know it (: I, too, wasn't sure how to take care of my turtles. So i decided to research about it, and then I found this site, and it has been ever so helpful!! So look and read the articles and ask some questions. Good luck. ♥

Welcome to the site. Did you change the water with your turtle in the tank?
