So I have a slider who isn't actually a res not sure what exactly he is we think just some sort or res hybrid or maybe a cumberland slider? Anywho I am moving to a house with an outside pond and would like to bred turtley so I can put him outside but so that he is not alone. I got turtley at a jamboree in west texas which is like a tow wide fair so I can't go back and get another like him but the only turtles the pet stores sell are res...would it be safe and possible to brees the two?

Try a turtle rescue. They are full of turtles needing new homes. Most are so full they won't even except new turtles. Also, for those reasons mentioned please think about not breeding your slider, due to the fact that there are more sliders than homes. Whichever you do, good luck.

I didn't even know there was such thing as turtle rescue....I knew about rescu3e for much larger animals I used to work for a dog rescue anyone know of any in texas? Here are some pics of turtley some told me he's probably a hybrid of a res cause in person you can see he has sme faint pink tint behind his eyes

Just google turtle rescue in Texas. Texas is a big place. You would know which place is closest to you. Again Good Luck!

These pictures make him look like a Yellow Belly Slider to me.

I saw pics of a cumberland and it looks exactly like him esp the spots on his belly...guess ill never really know tho :-)

Trust me, he has no ybs slider blood in him. ybs/res hybrids look all the same, im 100% sure he isnt a ybs in anyway.

Diamond, is there a way to tell the difference? He looks just like my YBS. o_O Maybe some pictures to show the differences? I definitely do not have a trained eye for it.

Just look at the face markings. All ybs have a giant sploch of yellow behind their eyes Kinda like a giant C. Sometimes yellow lines run into the the C but all things with ybs even hybrids will get the C if a parent was a ybs. Now look compare photos of the face between yours and his. You will notice Not gaint spoltch of yellow or C shape. Just straight lines.
