General Care Discussion :: Turtle keeps on trying to lift a big rock

Everytime i change the water for my turtle . He likes to stay in the water longer to play . I put this rock underwater for him to just sit on . And right after i change the water, he tries to go under the rock or something . He tries moving it around and pushes it . And once he put his head under and started moving it back and forth . It's like he's scratching his head with the rock .

Does this happen to anyone else's turtle ? Why does he do that ?

Sounds like he's scratching an itch or he's redecorating. I get to choose what I put in my turtles tank but he chooses where it goes. He's constantly redecorating.

My turtle has a specific piece of driftwood that he uses as his back scratcher, he gets really into it sometimes!

Yeah, he's just scratching himself. They get itchy.
