Why does it always seem like my RES wants to get out of his tank? He tries to climb out no stop. The water temp is 79f he has basking area. I take him out every now and then. Any suggestions why he does this

My turtle always tries to get back in when I take her out, even I take her away from the tank, she walks back to the base of the take and waits for me to put her in.... The only time she want to come out is in the spring when she wants to lay egg....

How big is the tank? Are you sure it's a boy? Are you sure it's not begging?

tank is 75 gals and turtle is 5 years olds

Is it only when he is in the water, or is he trying to climb while on basking area too? Could be begging and sounds like it. Though at 5 years old is your turtle a male or female as if it is a female she could be carrying eggs as that will trigger constant escape efforts to try and find a nesting area. This also leads to a nother question. Did this just start or has it been like this for a very long time?

its when he is in the water.... its been going on..on and off for years....could he be a girl... if i put a blanket on the front of the tank he stops

yea thats just begging, when he see you he goes crazy cause he think your gonna feed him. Most res do this.
